Dear RASIGS Community, ANZAC Day 2015 is finally here and it looks like a very big Anniversary Parade that we will be part of this year. I provide the following information on our Associations part in the Days activities.

Importantly, I have spoken to many Association members and the general Military community over the past year and discussed the many reasons why some of our members are not keen to march. The reasons are many and understandable, however, on this special ANZAC Day your Committee pleads with you to consider marching in 2015, a Centenary Day that will not be repeated for quite a while!

I recall speaking to a fellow (not a Sig) during the year who used to go to the ANZAC Day ceremony but put his medals in his pocket and this was his way of commemorating those who fought for Australia (and The Empire of course). I understood what he was saying and why and couldn’t disagree with his logic. Should you be a regular or a one off marcher, we want you to march this year and here are the details for this year’s participation in this National ANZAC Day Ceremony:

Time: RV from 0930 - 1000hrs
Location: ANZAC Parade and we are around the Navy Memorial and look for the Banner
March Off: Scheduled for around 1030hrs but subject to change given numbers attending
Lead: Our Patron MAJGEN Ian Gordon AO will lead
Ceremony: 1100 – 1200hrs
Seating: Bleachers for marchers and follow directions to seating
Dismiss: around 1200hrs and no formal dismissal

Post March:

  1. This year we will not hold our RASIGS Association AGM given our Vice President will be parading elsewhere and our Secretary will be involved post march with:
  2. The Canberra Signals Squadron holding a reunion of all Squadron and Regimental past and present members and RASIGS members in Canberra with an invite to all RASIGS members, family and friends at a venue to be advised.
  3. This provides your Committee with the opportunity to conduct the AGM later in the year with the opportunity for some Corps Fellowship. We will advise you.

Regards

Bill Wattam
